TD Pavilion at the Mann History

Standing in the Centennial District at the edge of Fairmount Park (Philadelphia’s oldest and largest park), TD Pavilion at the Mann has earned its place on the historical grounds with countless unforgettable live music experiences over the years. Built in 1976 as the new outdoor home for the Philadelphia Orchestra, the amphitheater was initially named Robin Hood Dell West and later dedicated to local businessman and music patron Fredric R. Mann in 1979.

The venue underwent a major renovation ahead of the 2019 season in which 4,500 covered seats, two lawn-facing LED video screens, the Citizens Bank Plaza and Acclaim VIP Lounge were added, along with an upgraded sound system and improved sightlines. The official reopening of the venue in 2019 coincided with The Mann Center’s new sponsorship deal with TD Bank, which introduced its current name as TD Pavilion at the Mann.

The Philadelphia Orchestra continues to perform at TD Pavilion annually, while the venue also hosts regular events like Movies @ the Mann and Picnic Nights. Legends such as Judy Garland, Ray Charles and Tony Bennett have graced the stage in the past, while artists like Phish, Kane Brown, ODESZA, Erykah Badu, Wilco and Phoebe Bridgers have stopped in since its renovation.

Venue Features

There is something to see everywhere you look at TD Pavilion at the Mann. Enter the venue through the open Citizens Bank Plaza, make the journey down from the Top of the Hill toward the impressive and distinct rooftop structure and stand underneath to fully take in the rich hues of the cedar interior and towering stage walls. The amphitheater is bordered by additional event space, including the Picnic Grove, Highmark Skyline Stage, Cadillac Terrace and on-site restaurant Crescendo. For select concerts, guests can even buy or bring a blanket and basket to enjoy a picnic on the lawn with clear, panoramic views of the Philadelphia skyline.

Seating and Viewing Options

Viewing areas at TD Pavilion at the Mann are split between the general admission pit, reserved seating on both the floor and balcony and lawn space that stretches to the Top of the Hill. The layout’s gradual slope makes a stunning sight out of every vantage point, though only the pit and reserved seating options offer roof coverage (as shows will continue rain or shine). VIP for TD Pavilion at the Mann gives entry to the Prime section behind the pit or box suites on the balcony as well as the Acclaim VIP Lounge, where guests can pick from a charcuterie or cheese board, specialty cocktails and more.

Venue Accessibility

Shows at TD Pavilion at the Mann include tickets for ADA seating, though the balcony sections do not have an elevator and can only be reached by a ramped walkway. In addition, guests requiring ADA-compliant seating, a complimentary ticket for one government-funded personal care attendant or specific assistance can submit an Accessible Services Request Form. Accessible parking can be found by the north and south entrances (follow signs for VIP parking), but spaces are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Parking and Admission at TD Pavilion at the Mann

TD Pavilion at the Mann is located at 52nd Street and Parkside Avenue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Parking is free at all on-site lots with the exception of Premier Parking, which can be added as a ticket upgrade at the time of purchase or day-of, though rates vary by event. Parking entrances can be found at Belmont Avenue and Montgomery Drive, South Concourse or 52nd Street. For public transportation, guests can ride the SEPTA’s Mann Loop. Check the SEPTA website for up-to-date bus schedule information.

Shows at TD Pavilion are typically open to all ages, though select event restrictions apply. Typically, gates open one hour before showtime, but timing varies by concert. Before heading inside, be aware that the TD Pavilion at The Mann bag policy prohibits containers larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″.  Outside lawn chairs, food and beverages are only permitted for designated Picnic Series shows, though fans can bring a blanket for any occasion or can rent a lawn chair for $10 in advance and $15 in-person.
