Hockeytown Cafe

Anyone heading to a Red Wings game has to check out Hockeytown Cafe. Even if you’re not attending the game, the atmosphere here on game day rivals the arena, as fans gather to watch their beloved Red Wings. The menu is headlined by Detroit-style pizzas, as well as an extensive cocktail list and a wide variety of local craft beers to give you a true taste of the city. You can get wings smoked on the rooftop, unique sandwiches, and even a s’mores pie for dessert.

Detroit Beer Company

If you’re in the mood for an elevated pub-style atmosphere before your event at Little Caesars Arena, visiting the Detroit Beer Company is a smart idea. Opened in 2003, it’s only a 12-minute walk from the arena and sits near Comerica Park. They offer seven to nine daily house brews on tap, allowing visitors to experience lagers, porters, bocks, brown ales, IPAs, and more. The menu features a variety of fish dishes, including smoked Michigan whitefish dip, seared Asian salmon, blackened catfish, fish and chips, as well as Creole chicken pasta, hot honey butter fried chicken sandwiches, and more. You can also rent the space out for private events if you want to throw a huge party before heading to the arena.

Grey Ghost

For a more upscale dining experience, Grey Ghost offers a lavish menu, a drinks menu any cocktail connoisseur would love, and an atmosphere set for a date night. Named after the mysterious figure from the Prohibition era who ran rum into the area, Grey Ghost’s bar is impressive, with stirred and shaken cocktails, mocktails, dessert drinks, beer, and wine. The dinner menu features delicious steak dishes, as well as unique plates like kalbi skate wings, cauliflower ceviche, and much more.

Fox Theatre Detroit

One of the most famous buildings in Detroit, the Fox Theatre opened in 1928 on Woodward Avenue and has been played by Elvis Presley, Jerry Seinfeld, and more. It was originally a movie theater but has turned into one of the most popular concert venues in Detroit. The building was named a historical landmark back in 1988. The Fox Theatre has family-friendly entertainment and many acts to enjoy on a date night.

The Fillmore Detroit

The Fillmore Detroit is right next to the Fox Theatre and hosts big-name musical acts and up-and-coming artists looking to break out with Detroit concerts. All kinds of music and comedy acts come through, so you’ll have plenty to choose from in any given month. You can’t miss the marquee outside and the building has a feel that’s classic and modern. It can fit nearly 3,000 guests but also can be set to feel like an intimate night out.

Motown Museum

If you’re attending an afternoon event at Little Caesars Arena, the Motown Museum is great to check out before or after. Located near the New Center section of Detroit, legendary Motown hitmaker Berry Gordy Jr. purchased the house in 1959 and turned it into Motown Records’ administrative office and recording studio. It became known as “Hitsville U.S.A.” and the Motown Museum took over the building in 1985. Fans can visit the museum and learn more about the history of Motown and see some authentic artifacts, photographs, and enjoy a true sense of music history.
