Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center History
In the heart of Mankato, Minnesota, the Mayo Clinic Health System Event Center gets its name from the world-renowned hospital system headquartered in nearby Rochester. The multipurpose arena is a premier entertainment and event center. It opened as the Mankato Civic Center in 1995 and has since been called the Midwest Wireless Civic Center, Alltel Center, Verizon Wireless Center and Verizon Center. Through the name changes, the center has served as home to the Minnesota State Mavericks’ men’s and women’s hockey teams. The arena also hosts concerts, while the 60,000-square-foot Grand Hall welcomes trade shows, conventions and other major events.
